A uniform magnetic field

The magnetic field inside the solenoid (rice. 22.7) it is characteristic not only for those, that the lines are parallel. It turns out, the induction vectors at all points of this field are identical in magnitude and direction. Such a field is called homogeneous. The number of lines of induction per unit cross-sectional area, perpendicular to the lines of induction, in this case, the same everywhere. Therefore, the distance between adjacent lines of induction in a uniform field everywhere must be equal to each other.

однородное магнитное поле

A uniform magnetic field is obtained not only in the solenoid. The magnetic field between unlike poles of magnets, when large amounts of poles in comparison with the distance between them, is also uniformly (rice. 22.16). Note, that the edge of the field poles can not be considered homogeneous.

In a uniform magnetic field on a closed loop with a current or acts on the magnetic needle is only a pair of forces F1, F2 (rice. 22.17), turning the contour from position α to position b. The direction of these forces can be found on the left-hand rule. In this case, the magnetic forces can cause only rotational movement. If the field is non-uniform, the circuit current can move more progressively and under the action of unbalanced forces in the field the other side, where the induction field is larger in absolute value.
