Magnetic field straight current

Magnetic field of conductor with current is determined by the strength and direction of the current, as well as the shape of the conductor.

Magnetic field rectilinear conductors with currents in opposite directions is shown schematically in figure. 22.5. As you can see, these fields differ only in the direction of the lines of induction. Magnetic field straight current has the form of concentric circles, located in the planes, perpendicular to the conductor. The direction of the lines of the magnetic field induction current is determined the rule of the right screw: if the forward movement of the screw occurs in the direction of the current in the conductor, the direction of rotation of the screw head indicates the direction of deprived of the magnetic field.

Note, what the rule of the right screw for a circular current can be used in a different way: if you rotate the screw head in the direction of the current in the circuit, the forward movement of the screw will indicate the direction of the lines of induction inside the contour.

Magnetic field of the solenoid, representing a coil with a current, shown in figure. 22.7, where you can see, that inside the solenoid the lines of induction are parallel to and bend around it outside with thrones. The direction of the lines of the magnetic field of the solenoid can be determined by the rule of right screw, as for a circular current.
